The curling season maybe over but there is still lots of work going on behind the scenes to get the Club ready for the 2025-26 Season.

Hardwood Floors

Round two of work on the hardwood floors has been completed. The floors have been sanded and stained, they look beautiful.

Summer Rentals

Once again, the Powell River Garden Club held their annual plant sale at the Club for those avid gardeners. We also had a Production company renting out space in the club to store some of their props for a movie, The Eden Express. They were filming between Lund and Powell River.

Season Start

Usually ice starts to go in at the beginning of September so that a practice week can happen at the end of September and League play begin at the beginning of October. This year there is a planned power outage in the Powell River area scheduled for September 14, 2025, from 7 am to 7 pm, according to a Facebook post from the City of Powell River. The outage is for BC Hydro to perform necessary transmission line maintenance to ensure the reliability of electricity in the Powell River area. The Ice Team will plan around this outage and more info will be shared about start dates later this summer.

New to Us Rocks

The Board has approved the purchase of a set of “New to Us” rocks from the Cloverdale Curling Club. Our current rocks are over 50 years old and need to be replaced. A new set of rocks would cost upwards of $80,000, however, we are able to purchase Cloverdale’s current rocks that still have life in them for $5,000. There will be an opportunity to purchase the Club’s old rocks to help off set the purchase price. More information will be available shortly on how
to own a little piece of club history.
